Immersive alchemy: unmasking identity through dreams and media
In Prima Materia III, The Last Mask, composer Myrtó Nizami concludes her two-year composer-in-residence project at Festival Dag in de Branding with a multidisciplinary performance. Collaborating with soprano Kristia Michael, Ensemble Modelo62, audio engineer Siavash Jafari and video artist Luca Tornato Serafini, she undertakes an ingenious journey into the subconscious guided by Fernando Pessoa’s Sonnet VIII. Seated on a bed with a mosquito net that doubles as a projection screen, the performer embodies both scientist and dreamer, exploring identity as a series of masks in a setting that blurs laboratory and dream sequence, while reflecting on how technology and media shape our perception of self.
