Live Paper Instruments Meet Modular Synth in Sonic Garden
Paper Ensemble #17 is an immersive live performance by artist-composer Jochem van Tol and six performers who explore the sonic potential of paper sculptural instruments. Set in a ‘Japanese garden’ of white, blue, grey and black paper sculptures, the ensemble builds, works and plays to create sounds ranging from intimate rustles and whale-song-like tones to grand, ominous waves. New elements include wood, metal and stone percussion alongside sampled paper sounds transformed with a modular synthesizer. The audience is invited to ‘walk, look, listen’ and discover a transformed perception of paper.
